stick shifts and tempered glass

We had the most interesting homecoming last night. We got into Grassy Creek (the town next door to Crumpler) about 730 and passed my hometown church, where there were a ton of people still out in the parking lot. Church is supposed to start at 730 so we were a bit confused why everyone was outside instead of in. Since they were all at church, there was no sense in going home to an empty house, so we figured what the heck, we'll go back. By the time we got back there, everyone had went inside except an older man and my little brother. As soon as I saw Darius, I went screamin' up to him saying "I drove the CRX!" (first time ever in 5 years! woot woot) and he said "You drove his car? Cool. Someone stole the church van."
So apparently what happened was this person was drving a stolen car which had run out of gas about the time he was getting close to the church, so he dumped the stolen car in our parking lot, broke into the back door with a big rock from the creek and took a laptop and all the keys that were hanging in the church office. He then, from the evidence left at the scene ;) looked in our storage building to see if there was anything worth taking out of there, then hopped in our church van and took off.
Well, Darius was the first one to go downstairs last night before church started, so when he saw the broken door and the giant rock laying in the hallway, he got a little freaked out and went upstairs to tell daddy.
Upstairs, Daddy had started choir practice and everyone was all in one place within hearing distance. Well, Darius went up to daddy and turned his back to the choir so they couldn't see what he was saying. But my mama, the piano player for the church, could see everything from where she was sitting. She told me that Darius' face was white and his eyes were the size of quarters. Well, she heard what he said and yelled, "The door downstairs is busted out?!"
Choir practice stopped immediately.
So the highway patrolmen came and local detectives came, and of course they all had the have Darius' statement of what he saw and get fingerprints, yada yada. Him and daddy didn't get home til after 10 o'clock.
I'm sure he went to school today and bragged about how the cops took his statment and fingerprints and may be calling him to come to the station and how he was the first on the "scene of the crime", etc.
So while he was at school today, me and Corey came and sat at the shop with Mama and Daddy. Towards the middle of the afternoon, Corey got finished reading his book for school and started playin around with glass. It was so cute to see him back in the shop with daddy teaching him how to measure and cut glass. He practiced a lot.
That's our first day and a half. This will be an interestin visit.

SO usually when Darius gets to school im already there, usually waiting in the tuba room. This morning he swings that door open and runs up and gives me a goodmorning hug as usual and starts blabbing about everything you said that happened last night. lol
